Safeguarding Incident Bootle
Please see safeguarding alert from Holy Spirit Primary School
Within the last hour, an unidentified a shaven headed man in his 20's (who was also smoking on school grounds) and who was wearing a green and black Adidas tracksuit, came to our nursery at 11.15 when the gate opened and asked where is reception? The teaching assistant on the door explained that he had to go through the gate to get through to the office. He then said he mean 'reception class' and asked are they doing full or half days. He then departed quickly - the TA felt very uncomfortable by his behaviour. A parent who is well known to the school spotted him acting suspiciously and asked if she could help him. He then told a different story and said that he was picking his cousin up from nursery - which he was not. The matter has been reported to Merseyside police who will have a presence at school at the end of the day. Any parents who can help identify this person should contact either a member of the school staff or the community police. Other local schools as well as the LA have been notified.
Please ensure that yourselves or the children are not too unduly alarmed however, all parents are asked to take additional vigilance and be focused on identifying any suspicious behaviour.
Yours sincerely
Mr M Byrne
