New Medical Policy
Supporting Pupils with Medical Conditions
The Department of Education has issued new guidelines to schools for the administration of medicines. Therefore, to ensure that Christ the King complies, please would you read the following:
If your son/daughter has been prescribed medication which needs to be taken during the school day, then the medication must be in the original container as dispensed by the pharmacist and include the frequency and dosage as advised by the GP, and clearly marked with you child's name . The medication will be stored in a locked cupboard in Student Services. The school cannot accept medicines that have been taken out of the container as originally dispensed or make changes to dosages on parental instructions. (Form A)
If your son/daughter is required to take any non-prescribed medication, eg Paracetamol/Ibuprofen thenForm A will need to be completed.
If your son/daughter is required to carry his/her own medication then please complete Form B.
Forms A and B can be downloaded from the school website or contact Student Services for a copy. When completed, the forms should be returned with the medication to Mrs Edwards or Mrs Hill in Student Services.
Please also ensure your child is aware that her/she can only take their medication in Student Services where they can be supervised by staff. Thank you for co-operation.
