Design and Technology has three offerings to prospective Sixth Form students:



Food, Nutrition & Health (Home Economics)

This subject builds on the experience of your GCSE Home Economics: Food and Nutrition and allows you to further your studies in this subject area. Candidates will have an understanding of a variety of issues including nutrition, food production, food safety and hygiene, social and environmental issues and family and society issues.



Resistant Materials

This qualification emphasises two key factors — creativity and sustainability, it builds upon the skills developed at GCSE. This new qualification structure allows students to develop a range of skills and outcomes at Advanced Subsidiary (AS) which demonstrate their creativity and apply these to a design and make project at A2. You will look at how all modern designers have to consider sustainable issues when designing new products. ï»¿

Fashion & Textiles

This subject builds on the experience of your GCSE Design and Technology and allows you to further your studies in this subject area. This course is designed to encourage candidates to Develop a broad view of design and technology, Develop your capacity to design and make textile products, Appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing, Develop your own ideas through to final products, Helps students to develop further skills in decision making, creativity, and critical analysis through individual and collaborative working.
