Business Advanced Level

The Business A Level is a two-year course aimed at providing learners with a high level of understanding of many areas of business. The units covered are designed to provide students with core knowledge, understanding and skills about the following. All the modules covered will examine the main functions of business from marketing, human resources and finance to motivation, production and economic influences.

 

What will I study?

 

You will study a variety of business topics such as an Introduction to Business and Business Functions, Marketing, Accounting, People in Organisations, Business Production and Strategic Management. The A Level part of the Advanced GCE specification includes developing core knowledge, understanding and skills in four key areas: business objectives and strategy, external influences, business analysis and change.

 

How will I be assessed?

 

All units are externally assessed and the two units completed at AS form 50% of the overall Advanced GCE qualification. All units in the Business AS/A Level are awarded a grade A-E. The overall A Level is also then awarded a grade A-E. There is access to an A* grade which can be awarded if a candidate achieves a grade A on their full A Level qualification and an A* on the aggregate of their A Level units.

Career Opportunities

 

A Business AS/A Level can lead to either employment or higher education. Careers could be pursued in a variety of businesses from administration and IT services, to sales and marketing, research, accounting, insurance, legal and financial services and retail management. There are also several large businesses which have management training schemes that could be applied for. You could also easily move on to university to study for a degree or similar level course in a wide range of subjects after achieving your A Level. Whatever you decide to do next, a Business AS/A Level will allow you to keep your options open.
