Psychology
Psychology is the science of mind, behaviour and experience. It is a relatively new discipline which encompasses a wide range of approaches to understand different behaviours. We teach students a number of the main approaches to provide them with an insight in to the discipline as a whole and to develop a greater understanding of their own behaviour in a variety of contexts.

What will I study?
The courses from September 2015 have yet to be accredited. We will select the course which we feel best prepares students for further study and allows students to develop a sound understanding of psychological principles. There are a number of key topics which relate to several specifications, for example:
Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Research Methods, Biological Psychology, Social Psychology, Individual Differences, Biological Rhythms and Sleep, Relationships, Aggression, Eating Behaviour, Cognition and Development and Psychopathology.
How Will I Be Assessed?
Students will complete the AS examinations in the summer of Year 12. Students will then complete the A Level examinations at the end of Year 13.

Career Opportunities
There are many different career opportunities within Psychology including Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology and Occupational Psychology. Since Psychology combines the development of understanding human behaviour with skills of analysis, interpretation and evaluation, it allows a number of skills to be transferred to other fields. This is an ever popular subject as it teaches learners more about themselves, and is certainly one of those subjects where the benefits match the effort that you put in.
